How to Enable Virtual Background in Zoom

Why can’t I enable virtual background in Zoom? How to enable virtual background in Zoom without green screen?

Are you Frustrated with your Video conferencing due to the bad or cluttered background? If you fear looking unprofessional in the Zoom meeting because of your background condition.

Thinking that I wish could change my Zoom background, Then I must say Your worry will not for long because in this article I will tell you how to enable virtual background in Zoom.

You can customize your background on your own to keep your background private from others and you can do it with or without green screen

Zoom’s virtual background is a useful feature for everyone who doesn’t want to show their background. you can easily change your clutter background to a professional background by enabling a virtual background setting.

To enable the setting, First, you need to see the requirements of the system to avail this feature of Zoom.

Follow the procedure that I have shared step-by-step guide on three different conditions During Video Conferencing.

  • Account
  • Group
  • Individual user level

How to Enable Virtual Background in Zoom

For Users

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to enable the Virtual Background feature in Zoom for all participants in the account:

1. Sign in Zoom web portal.

2. Go to the Left side in the menu bar.  

3. Then click on Settings.

4. Go to the Meeting tab.

5. Click on meeting (Advance).

6. Scroll down and verify virtual background option is enabled or disabled.

7. Please enable it, If it is disabled by default.

Note: you should have at least client/app version 5.1.1 or upgrade version to see the background images you upload. For more information visit here.

For Group

How to enable the Virtual Background in Zoom feature for all members of a specific group:

1.Log into the Zoom web portal.

2. View In the navigation menu, click on User Management 

3. Then tab on Groups.

4. Press on the name of the group, then click on the Meeting option.

5. In the Meeting tab, go to the Virtual Background option and verify that the setting is enabled or not.

Notes: If the option is disabled, then enable it.

If the setting is grayed out, it has been locked at the Account level and needs to be changed at that level.

(Optional) To make this setting compulsory for all users in this group, tab the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

(Optional) Check Allow use of videos for virtual backgrounds then Save to confirm the change, to allow your users to access to video virtual backgrounds. 

(Optional) Check Allow users to upload custom backgrounds then Save to confirm the change, to allow your users to access to upload their own virtual backgrounds in addition to the backgrounds currently uploaded.

(Optional) Click Manage virtual background to upload default background images available for users.

(Optional) Check Reset virtual backgrounds to default for users after each meeting. If the admin selected any background for their users for any specific meeting or webinar. So, After the end of the meeting, your background will automatically reset to the default background.

For Account

How to enable the Virtual Background in Zoom feature for your use:

1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an Administrator.

2. Go to the left side and navigate Account Management

3. Click on Account Settings.

4. Go to the Meeting tab and click on Meeting (Advanced).

5. Scroll down and navigate to the virtual background option.

6. Verify whether the setting is enabled or disabled.

(Note: If the setting is disabled, then please enable it.

(Optional) To make this setting mandate for every participants in your account, click on the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

(Optional) Check to Allow the use of videos for virtual backgrounds then Save to confirm the change, to allow your users to access video virtual backgrounds. 

(Optional) Check to Allow users to upload custom backgrounds then Save it, to allow your participants to upload their own virtual backgrounds.

(Optional) Click on Manage virtual background to upload default background images available for users.

(Optional) Check the box of Reset virtual backgrounds to default for users after each meeting. If the admin selected any background for their users for any specific meeting or webinar. So, After the end of the meeting, your background will automatically reset to the default background.

How to Manage Virtual Background for Admins

The admin has the authority to allow users to add their own virtual backgrounds or restrict them from uploading their own backgrounds.  

Admin can upload their own virtual backgrounds for all the participants on their accounts or a certain virtual background for specific user groups.

  • Go to your Zoom account.
  • In the menu bar, Click on User Management.
  •  Click on Account Settings or Group Settings.
  • Go to Manage virtual background
  • Tap on Choose Files or drag and drop the images. 
  • And done.

Your new virtual background is ready..!!
